The Future of South Forty Farms South Forty takes pride in the raising and handling of young horses on the farm. We've worked our own methods to grow strong gaited, well balanced horses that can be handled by many. We handle our babies as soon as possible, leading and bathing all through their first few months, and then starting to expose them to obstacles and ground manners, as well as gaiting on a lead. We appreciate that each horse is unique in it's own way, and learns at it's own pace. We enjoy finding the puzzle pieces that make each horse come into their own!
"Chrome" Out of South Forty Gideon's Torch and Whispering Wendy (bay mare) Born May 10, 2011 - Color - Grullo Chrome is the first foal out of our grullo stallion, Gideon, and my what a way to start out! Chrome has all of the grullo markings! He's built like a tank, friendly as can be, and had loads of potential!
South Forty Star Gazer "Lilly" Out of South Forty Circle of Life and SF Sweet Gypsy Rose Born April 28, 2011 - Color - Chocolate A repeat breeding from 2010, we couldn't resist another foal from this sire and dam! Lilly has the personality and spunk of her mother, the curiosity, build, and coloring from her father.
South Forty Flash Gordon "Flash" Out of South Forty Circle of Life and CF Sock It To Me Born May 22, 2011 - Color - Chocolate with white mane and tail Sock It To Me began 2011 with the understanding that she would be moved back into our riding program and be able to wait a few years to have another foal. She's an incredibly well gaited mare that we enjoy working with. So she decided to make her 2011 foal something breath-taking. That's what we got! Friendly, frisky, and eager for all the attention, Flash has stepped his way into our hearts!
South Forty Morning Glory "Glory" Out of South Forty Circle of Life and Dock's Daisy Born May 24, 2011 - Color - Chocolate Glory quietly came into the world, batted those beautiful, long eyelashes, gave the most precious nicker, and won us over! Glory has the build and "cuteness" of her mom, while having the personality and presence of her dad!
"Bambi" Out of South Forty Gideon's Torch and South Forty Simply Irresistable Born June 28, 2011 - Color - Grulla Our first foal at South Forty where both parents are Grullos! We're thrilled to see that "Sissy" did us proud and had a baby that is a perfect replica of her! Sweet as can be, but bashfully cute, "Bambi" loves to run and play with her mom, and her new best friend, Flash!
South Forty I Am Able "Able" Born May 2010 - Color - Grullo This simple, sweet gelding has been a joy to handle for all, ages young and old. He's been worked extensively in hand, gaiting while being led, and with obstacles (we even decorated him with a Christmas wreath around his neck last year!) and has loads of potential. Easy to get along with, he has a natural gait, great little body, nice all around package!
South Forty Nala Out of South Forty Circle of Life and SF Sweet Gypsy Rose Born May 2010 - Color - Chocolate Beautiful, elegant, and a gaited dream come true. Nala has the grace and form of her father, the "facial expressions" of her mother, and an amazing blend of both parents on muscle capacity and of course, her amazing mane! We're really excited to see how she grows up!
South Forty Risky Business "Cruise" Born May 2010 - Color - Palomino This is the big man on the farm, at least of the younger horses (he doesn't intend to challenge Big Un!). Cruise is the observant one, who watches over what is going on, checks in with all the horses in his field to see how they are...the "man of the house". Great with kids of all ages working on the ground and with obstacles!
South Forty Simba Out of South Forty Circle of Life and CF Sock It To Me Born June 2010 - Color - Black Sock It To Me gave us a great package for unlimited potential as a gelding. Simba is gaited, has a gorgeous mane and tail, loves to work and learn, and has a wonderful personality!
South Forty Peppermint Patti Born May 2010 - Color - Red Dun Patti is the independent of the bunch. She doesn't need a whole crew of girls to go with her to the water fountain, she can go on her own, and look great while she's at it. She'll come on over to meet anyone, anytime, and loves to be spoiled rotten!! |
